EORM - Senior Environmental Health and Safety Engineer – Industrial Hygiene Program Manager - Goleta, CA

Description: EORM is seeking a dynamic industrial hygienist to fill a critical role at our client, Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, in Goleta, CA. This position is responsible for managing and implementing a complex industrial hygiene program in a semiconductor manufacturing facility at the site. This position will be able to self-create an industrial hygiene approach, which means the successful candidate must be a self-starter who can perform tasks and actively manage the entire industrial hygiene program. This Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) position will be responsible for creating and implementing solutions in a team environment.

Typical duties will involve the following:

  • Oversee all aspects of industrial hygiene program management and implementation including exposure monitoring, hearing conservation, noise, respiratory protection, radio frequency, radiation (ionizing and nonionizing), ventilation, radioactive sources, and lasers:
  • Identify hazardous workplace conditions, take appropriate industrial hygiene samples/measurements of physical and/or chemical exposures, interpret the data, and recommend controls and/or personal protective equipment.
  • Interpret federal, state and local laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to industrial hygiene practices and regulatory reporting.
  • Assume the role of Laser Safety Officer for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the laser customers.
  • Assume the role of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the radioactive material and X-ray customers.
  • Assume the role of Electromagnetic Energy Environment Criteria (EEEC) Manager for the site and be the liaison between EHS and the RF customers.

  • Develop and implement environmental, health and safety management systems to integrate EHS into the business operations.

  • Assume responsibility for developing/maintaining/advancing specific EHS program areas and supporting EHS needs for assigned buildings/organizations.
  • Support the development of injury/incident investigations.
  • Conduct office and industrial ergonomics evaluations.
  • Support emergency response activities as required.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance policies.
  • Job may require entry into potentially hazardous environments for evaluation purposes.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years experience supporting and managing industrial hygiene programs in the semiconductor, aerospace, or other complex industrial setting.
  • Extensive knowledge and the application of Cal/OSHA regulations and ANSI Standards.
  • Extensive knowledge and the application of the principles of industrial hygiene.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, accurately develop appropriate alternatives, and implement practical and effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and effective verbal communications.
  • Well-developed written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on work flow to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Experience giving presentations.

10%  STRATEGIC PLANNING

Definition

The Safety Engineer implements the LAUSD Construction Safety Program under the direction of the LAUSD Facilities Division Safety Manager.
